June Theme Day: The Beauty of Decay

Nature versus man-made. I'd say that nature is winning here. Notice it looks like someone tried to patch the bricks to the left of the tree trunk in a perpendicular pattern before apparently giving up and just smearing on a bunch of mortar. This is a vacant building which I don't think can be saved at this point.

Today is the first of June (hard to believe!) and that means Theme Day in the City Daily Photo Community. To check out things decaying beautifully around world, click here.

Nature is winning in more ways than one: the crumbling bricks and the tenaciousness of the plant. Wonderful combination to show the different sides of nature.

Y'know, if I were to walk by this myself, I wouldn't have seen the 'beauty' of this...your image shows a very artful composition.

That's a fabulous, fabulous shot. Life springing out of decay!

Yesterday's photo of the Choo Choo sign is gorgeous!

Great shot for theme day. I bet the owner would fail to appreciate its beauty.

That tree or plant is really pushing it's way out of that wall. Looks like nature is taking over.

This is a great find, so invasive the tree and the bricks just give way. Nice shot.

Oh dear - this building looks a bit fragile. Absolutely love that fresh green branch appearing from inside the wall. Great shot.

this is the most bizarre construction job I have ever seen! and really, the tree always wins.

Wonderful! Shows how even that fresh green branch is ultimately stronger than brick.
