Please Stop

...Thinking. As a first grade teacher, this isn't anything I ever tell anyone. I saw this stenciled on the sidewalk downtown. Hopefully no one is advocating stupidity. Maybe it means "go with your instincts" or "stop over-analyzing". Anyone have an interpretation to share?

We Are Still Here

I saw this sign a couple of weeks ago. It is just a simple yard sign, like the kind people put out advertising their politics or yard sales. But the message really struck me. The Cherokees were forced to leave this area in the 1800s and march west to Oklahoma along what is now known as the Trail of Tears. This sign must have been posted by a descendent of one of the few who escaped the harsh removal.
Here is a lengthy article about the Trail of Tears if you're interested.

Emergency

These emergency call boxes can be found along the Riverwalk. I'm not sure how often, if ever, they have been used, but it's nice to know they are there just in case. When we took a tour of the University of Tennessee- Knoxville campus, we were told that their call boxes had been used by students suffering from health problems, like asthma. So they aren't just for attacks, which is what I think of when I see them.

Warehouse Row

This sign is part of a series of "red" photos I took for my photography class. Warehouse Row is downtown and offers shopping, dining, and art.

Painted Sign

Not very many businesses still advertise with painted signs on their buildings anymore. I like it better than a billboard. Maybe because of the texture the brick adds to it.

Where To Go, What To Do

This colorful direction sign is at Crabtree Farm. It looks like most everything is to the right. I bought a couple of tomato plants and am going to try to grow them in my shady back yard. I love having lots of trees, but a little sun would be nice too!

Restricted Area

This sign appears in Coolidge Park, where there is a carousel, an animal fountain for playing in, and a large grassy area perfect for ball games or kite flying.
The white dot is the moon.
